Laundry Woes

So starting a few weeks ago I was doing laundry as always and when I took out one of my white loads and was hanging up the clothes I noticed one of Ryan's favorite Hurley shirts was yellow all along the collar and sleeves. What the heck?! Nothing else in the load was discolored, just that shirt. So I searched and searched online and tried all the tips and tricks bloggers suggested. Nothing worked. Then, some loads later it happened again with another one of Ryan's shirts. And again and again. Random loads and only one item in the load would be damaged. I could not figure out what was going on! Then, I had an inspiration I should have thought of long before. I called my mommy about my laundry woes. She made some suggestions and told me to try this Clorox Gel Bleach Pen. It was worth a try but after all my research I was afraid it was ruined for good. But I thought even if I could get it a light yellow maybe it would be good enough to keep wearing it. So the before picture is above and here is the after picture. I put a generic white tee on the shirt before and after so you can tell how well it worked.
Woah! MAGIC! You have to sit and watch it so that it doesn't sit so long that it turns your clothes yellow from the bleach. But you can see it work! So cool! Domestic chemistry at work! Thank you mommy for your domestic Jedi wisdom! $3 Clorox pen saved our four shirts (appx. $70 value!

Sugar....Love or Hate

I have a confession that is embarrassing. But hey, At least I can admit my flaws and live openly. Which I'm trying harder to do better. To accept myself flaws and all just like I accept my best friends for all that they are.

I've had a love/hate relationship with sugar.

It tastes good. It makes me feel good when I'm down. It's been there for me when others weren't. It has helped me celebrate birthdays, holidays, and everything in between. However, like many other people I have decided to use the new year to start fresh and get healthier. This has brought on huge changes for me that I didn't expect.

I decided to cut out all sugar (except natural sugars like fruits), cut out as much processed foods as I could, give up milk (which BTW is HUGE for me! Anyone who knows me well knows I LOVE milk, cheese, and ice cream....mmmmmmmmm! Bring on the dairy lol) and really change my eating habits....and I tell you what.... I had NO idea I ate as much sugar I was eating! For the first couple of days I had major withdrawals! Horrible headaches and exhaustion like you would not believe!

I knew this would be a change but I never expected my body to react this way. I didn't know I had slipped down the slope this far. After about three days of being sick my body finally adjusted and I felt great. Hallelujah!

Well, the eating program I decided to adapt is where you eat "clean" for five days and then on the weekend you get two treat meals. Now these are not pig out meals but so that you don't feel deprived and when special occasions arise or you go out with friends you are allowed to treat yourself to foods you don't eat the other five days.
So this past weekend I decided I really wanted some chocolate as part of my treat meal on Sunday. I had a some of the left over Christmas candy and holy cow did I feel sick to my stomach....and then on Monday I had withdrawal headaches again!!! I'm a sugar-aholic!!!

Sugar is the drug that is throwing my body out of wack! It's poisoning! (I know this shouldn't be a huge realization but in some ways it is...I've never had my body react to this extent. I mean I normally have had issues with my blood sugar dropping and spiking throughout my life but I thought that was normal...but I'm thinking not so much now)

I feel like sugar is that guy you date/like off and on for a really long time and then suddenly after you break it off for what seems like the twentieth time you suddenly have this realization...the realization that you aren't happy at all with him and that you are DONE for good (you know girls, everyone has an experience with this type of guy). You're sick of the way he's been treating you and you're sick of it.

Well, I'm literally SICK of my boyfriend sugar!!!
(Okay that's not the best analogy because I'm married...but I think you guys understand. Ryan, I love you! You are and always will be my one, eternal best friend and true love!)

Now I think it would be unrealistic to say I'll never, ever eat sugar again. However, I think it's safe to say that I'm sick and tried of eating straight sugar and letting my body go all out of wack.

Well there it is my big confession... I'm a sugar-aholic! And I'm breaking up with sugar. lol

Cruises

It's funny because once you go on a cruise you get home and then spend forever wanting to go back. At least that's the way it is for us.
Our Caribbean Honeymoon cruise was amazing! No cell phones, no cooking, no cleaning, just 100% exploring, relaxing, and FUN!
And as it continues to be frigid and snow I can't help but wish I was on those white sandy beaches.
As I diet I can't help but want that warm chocolate melting cake and 24 hour soft serve ice cream.
As I'm away from my sweetie more as we both have school and work I miss spending every single moment together.
As people are rude to me I miss the smiling faces and EXTRAORDINARILY customer service of the cruise crew.
As my homework begins to pile up I wish that I could just go jump in the pool, sit and watch the sunset, or go explore new places with my love.

Oh man....cruises are awesome.... I hope I get to go back someday! :)

A picture I took when we were in Mexico.... isn't it beautiful!

Let's set the record straight

So as some of you have heard from Facebook: we are moving to another apartment in Provo. So not too far. But why are we moving is the question: I am not pregnant. Ryan is a goob and while it's funny that he put on his status that we are "moving because we are planning for the future ;)" I am not prego. When I say we I mean Ryan and I not Ryan, I, and baby. Not yet! Someday we'll have kids but it aint now.
So we decided to move for a little more space. Come fall our lives will change and it won't be as chill. I'll be studying and working and Ryan will be studying and working and we need some space to study. We also need a place where we aren't constantly "fighting" our landlords for this that and the other. It was a great situation for the time we've been in this apartment and I honestly hope that the new tenants don't have as many problems as we have and enjoy the apartment. But it's just time to start ending this chapter and start preparing for another one that will be much more jam packed and fast paced.
We posted the apartment on craigslist and KSL on Saturday afternoon showed it 5 or 6 times the afternoon, twice on Sunday, and 10 or 11 times on Monday. We then met with the landlords Monday night, they met one of the first interested person, liked him and we signed it all over. It's been a huge blessing. Everything has fallen into place and I feel like we're being lead to where we need to be for the next season of life. We signed a contract for an apartment last night and are all set to move next week. I'm excited and sad! Excited that it's all over but sad as well. The apartment was finally all set up and it was a good place for the time being. I get attached to things I guess and maybe that's good and bad. But I'll keep looking forward knowing that it'll all work out and it's for the best.

My family is coming into town the end of this week and I'm so excited to see them!!! I can't wait!

WOW!!!

Here it is two months later and I still can't believe it is all over....or as Ryan pointed out to my mom, it's just beginning :D

So for those of you who weren't able to join us, we missed you and are sending you our love.
To those who did come to the temple, the reception, and the open house: Thank you for coming to celebrate with us!

I feel SO grateful to my mommy!!! She is so amazing! I would've had no wedding without her! LITERALLY!!! It is all thanks to her!!! She did the planning and taking my visions and dreams and making them a reality! The day was perfect! Absolutely unforgettable!

Thank you to Sister Evanson so much for helping my mom and for how lovely and perfect the reception was!!! It was perfect! Even better than I could have possibly envisioned!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped set everything up for the reception, helped run the reception and luncheon, helping with the flowers, and everything in between!!! It could never have been pulled off so flawlessly without everyone's hard work and love! I'm so appreciative!!! Really!!! If I didn't get the chance to say it to you personally when we were there I apologize, but really thank you so much everyone who lended a helping hand in any capacity!

Thank you for a beautiful open house mom, Aunt Shelly, and Sister Lawrence!

Big thanks to mom and Sister Morgan for setting up our NC attic honeymoon suite! It was so cute!! We had so much fun in North Carolina!

And then the cruise...was SO fun!!! HUGE thank you to mom and dad for that!!!!! It was such a fun adventure for us that we will never forget!
(P.S. for those of you who haven't already picked up on it: Mommy=my mother, Tara. Daddy=my father, Steve. Mom=my mother-in-law, Marie. Dad=my father-in-law, John.)

I'm sitting here in our new apartment and I still can't believe it is all over (well besides all the thank yous that I'm working on. Almost done!). It was a dream! In the best way! It was stressful at moments of course but it was so fun! I feel so blessed!

From being able to have my parents, Ryan, my grandparents, and the Zirkers be at the temple with me when I went through for the first time. To all my girls coming from across the country (Literally, Brit came from North Carolina, Kari came from Salt Lake, Faith had to be there anyways [hahaha she's my sister jk Faith, I love you!] but she was so helpful as my maid-of-honor, and one of my oldest friends Rachel came) to celebrate and be there for me. Thanks girls!!! It meant the world to me!!! (And P.S. dang did you girls look GORGEOUS!) But let's not forget about the guys (Kevin flew in from Salt Lake, Tyler came in from Idaho, and Shaun was luckily working in Denver for the summer and could come down) they were great and came to support and celebrate with Ryan! You guys are the greatest! Where would we be without our amazing friends?! And there is all the family that came from FAR AND WIDE!!! My grandparents, Ryan's grandparents, Ryan's parents, my aunts and uncles, cousins, friends (Bianca and Chels).

Now that it is all over I wish I had kept a diary so that I'd remember everything and all. But I was so just caught up in the moment. It was so busy and wonderful.... but now it's over.

I can not believe it is July! Where has the time gone?! I've been married for two months now and the summer is 1/2 over!!! :0

Well, let's rewind. On Thursday and Friday before the wedding my family, my aunt, Sister Evanson, Brother Zirker, my cousin, Brit, Chels, Bianca, Sister Burris, Sister Gillespie, Sister Watabe, and so many other wonderful people came and helped set the canopy in the cultural hall, set up tables and chairs, put lights on trees, the whole works! It was such a transformation. I mean I'll put up pictures and for those of you who didn't make it that room that we had the reception in is a cultural hall. It was totally transformed into my dream reception. The canopy/false ceiling was BEAUTIFUL and would not have been possible without everyone's help!
On Friday night Ryan, my family, and I got the wonderful opportunity to be with my grandparents in the temple for their sealing. It was so WONDERFUL! It was so special to get to have that time with my family and Ryan in the temple and to prepare myself to be married and sealed the next morning! It was such a blessing to get to be a celestial bride with my grandmother! Last year when she got baptized she teased me that none of her grandchildren could get married in the next year because she wanted to be there. lol. I didn't know then though that I'd be blessed enough to get to her at her sealing too!!! So amazing!
Then, Saturday morning! The big day! I woke up at 5 AM! Did some of my makeup (foundation, etc.) and then went to have my hair done at 6 (P.S. Nicole, you are an angel! If it hadn't been for her I would not have had that gorgeous hair! She was so gracious to do my hair so early! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU) Rushed back in the door afterwards. Finished up my make-up with Sister Bavender (you're a lifesaver!!! Thank you!) put on a skirt and flew back out the door for the temple. We cut it close but we still made it in time. The sealing was incredible! Afterwards, pictures were SO fun! It was so easy to smile...I couldn't STOP smiling! We were MARRIED! Although, by the end of pictures my cheeks were kinda sore. hahahahahahaha.
Off to the luncheon we went. It was great to finally EAT!!! hahahahhaaha. I got to steal a few minutes and chill with Ryan and the groomsmen and then make my way around the room and talk to my girls and all my family before things got crazy again.
The reception was so beautiful! The cake was INCREDIBLE and it tasted AMAZING! (That is all a HUGE thanks to Kristina Heller! She is so talented!) Sister Evanson and everyone that helped set up and put the food together...oh man it was incredible and delicious(they packed me some and we ate it back at the hotel! It was so tasty!) The punch fountain that my grandmother set up was beautiful too! It was just perfect! And seeing everyone was so special and so fun! But then out of no where....(DUN DUN DUN!) I get a bloody nose in the middle of the line! Starts running down my dress! "MOMMY!" We run to the bathroom with my father's handkerchief with Ryan and mom not far behind.
We spent a good 10 minutes or so in the bathroom waiting for the nosebleed to stop...I haven't had a nosebleed in...who knows how long...and I just had to get one in the MIDDLE of my reception in the line. Well, it's okay because I got yet another blessing! The blood came out of my dress with a rag...no spots, no water spots! I mean for a special occasion fabric that is like....UNHEARD of! It was so amazing! This dress was MADE FOR ME! hahaha (For those of you who don't know my wedding dress story: I found my dress the first time I went dress shopping, fifth dress I tried on, the sample was my size. Fit me like a glove. Bought it and it was a great price. I just got it altered to bustle the train. Seriously...it was made for me! lol)
The cake cutting was fun. I let Ryan take a bite and then shoved the rest in his mouth and then he did the same. When we drank our toast Ryan chugged the whole glass hahahaha and replied, "hey! I was thirsty!" lol
Our first dance was perfect. We chose Making Memories of Us by Keith Urban. It was the first song Ryan ever sang to me and he sang it while we danced. It was perfect. Then, the dance with my daddy was great! We danced to Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. That's the song that my daddy and I used to dance in the kitchen to when I was a little girl. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories while we danced. He was the one that was a tear jerker that day! Makin me cry and such! Good thing I wore that waterproof mascara. I love him so much! He brought Ryan over after our dance and told him to take care of me.
Ryan's dance with is mom was really special. They danced to My Wish by Rascal Flatts. I love that song. My siblings and I all cuddled up to my daddy and had a good cry. It obviously was happy but things were changing and I think that it was a tender moment for all of us. It was really great to spend those few minutes with them.
The bouquet toss was fun. Hannah, my little 8 year old sister, caught it (that girl is so competitive). And my little 12 year old brother Josh caught the garter...more like picked it up off the ground, lol. My daddy was like, "What is this? I'm already broke!" baaahahahahahaha.
Then, we took off while everyone blew bubbles and drove away in my cousin's car that they decorated (Baahahaha)
The next day we went to my parent's house and saw my grandparents and Kari for a bit. Then we opened gifts and filled out our FAFSA for school.
On Monday, Ryan and I went to North Carolina for a few days there. It was so fun to be with the family and get to see where Ryan grew up. At the open house on Thursday everyone was like, "Have you heard that stories about Ryan?" "Are you sure you're up for this?" LOL! Yes I've heard all the stories. Yeah I know what I'm "getting myself into". Actually I must be a good luck charm or something cuz Ryan hasn't hurt himself seriously since we've been together. But I might have just jinxed myself. hahaha. There are plenty of years to come for his accident prones side to manifest itself. Apparently it runs in the family - so if it isn't Ryan I'm sure at least one of our kids will be the one to make my hairs turn gray. hahahahahahahaha.

Then, Ryan's grandpa was gracious enough to drive us back down to Florida with him on Friday and dropped us off at our port in Tampa on Saturday for our cruise. Oh my goodness our cruise was SOOOO amazing!!! We went from Tampa to Grand Cayman to Cozumel, Mexico and then back to Tampa. It was so beautiful!!! We walked along the white beaches of Grand Cayman and snorkeled at both ports!!! It was absolutely amazing! The food on the boat was amazing!! I tried so many new foods too just cuz I wanted to: veal, escargot, duck, lobster tail, and more! The boat was so big!! It was such a fun experience and we had such a great time!

Then, we came back to real life.... :P and it snowed the week after we got home. Ryan and I were like, "It's May!" I wanted to go back to the Caribbean so bad lol.
But my parents were gracious enough to come out and bring us all our wedding gifts and such. They helped us get set up and get some furniture moved in. It was SUCH a blessing!

And now we're just livin' the married life. I'm working full-time doing research on campus and Ryan is working part-time and taking classes. It's been a fun season for us. We can feel that our life is about to get a little hectic come fall semester but we are enjoying the summer. My family is coming out to visit soon and I'm so excited! It'll be great to have them for a few days!

Well, till next time. I love y'all!

IT'S ALMOST HERE!

It's been recently brought to my attention by multiple people that they read my blog. I'M SO FLATTERED! I can't even tell you!

Can I also express that getting married is the most wonderful thing ever! I mean not only am I getting sealed to the most amazing man, but ALSO all these wonderful people in your life pop back up to say congrats and reconnect with you and I just love it! I love it so much! There are some many people that I wish I could see more, wish I had more time to chat with, be with, or get to know better, and on and on.

Well I guess I have a lot to catch up on. I'll do my best to get as much as possible. A couple of weeks ago Kevin, one of Ryan's mission companions, Caleb, and his wife came over for a bit and I got to meet them and we all hung out for a while. That was super fun! Natalie Seeley from back home called me for a little bit just because. Totally made my day! Can't lie. All the messages and posts on my facebook wall just make me so happy! After a long hectic day I love talking to or getting messages from friends. Makes my life!

Kyli, the only other girl in the lab that I work in :), and I went to the mall a few weeks ago and got ideas for our make up for our weddings. Kyli and Brad are getting married this summer as well, June 18! :) Anyway, we got our makeup done and it was so fun!!!! Kyli's make up looked SO beautiful and flirty. Mine turned out really well too. I liked it a lot! I was still worried about doing my own make up cuz....well anyone who knows me knows that I don't wear very much make up if I wear it at all. So BLESSINGS Sister Bavender is being so gracious to come over and doing our makeup the morning of the wedding! *phew* :D

Everyone has been so gracious at helping with the wedding and such!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! There are so many people who have helped already and will and I am just so grateful! I feel so special and blessed!!! And everyone that is coming from far and wide to make our day very special!!! :D THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Anyways, I got an Undergraduate Research Award for the spring/summer (it is a grant given by the department that helps pay me to do research over the summer). I'm super excited. Ryan and I got to go to a dinner held by the department. It was really fun! We had fine dining company ;) Matt and his wife, Kyli and Brad, and Jon and his fiancée (I work with Matt, Kyli, and Jon). It was really fun and an honor to go.

Ryan and I in my lab after with my letter for my award

Ryan and I working on Jun (Ryan's Del Sol)
Ryan is trying to sell his Del Sol. He's decided that while it's been a fun project to get it running and fixed up it's time to spend his time and money elsewhere. (Despite popular belief I had NOTHING to do with this. I offered my opinion and Ryan decided.) Hopefully we'll find someone to buy it soon. If you are interested: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=733005&nid=443&tab=myads/view&ad=2396656 It's a fun little car I can't lie.

So all my finals are done!!!!! Oh my goodness I feel so relieved!!!!!!!!!! I can't even tell you!!!! I wish some classes had gone better but all things considering and considering how much work I put in I'm really proud of myself. I've pushed myself farther and harder this semester than ever. It's been a difficult semester but I never gave up and even when an out seemed very appealing. I DID IT!!! That is an accomplishment in and of itself right?!

I'M SO EXCITED!!! I go home Friday! Chill with family and get stuff done with my mom! Ryan moves into our new apartment on Sunday night and then flies to Denver Tuesday! I go through the temple Tuesday! I get to meet my soon to be in laws on Friday afternoon. And....*drum roll please* MY GRANDPARENTS ARE GETTING SEALED FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!!! My grandma got baptized last year and now they are getting sealed and I'm so excited that I get to be there! :D It'll be so WONDERFUL!!! All the bridesmaids and groomsmen will be in town that night and we'll have a good time chilling :D Then, Saturday Ryan and I will be sealed for time and all eternity :D :D :D :D *insert beaming face* :D :D :D
And the fairytale doesn't end there. That next week Ryan and I go to North Carolina chill and have an open house out there. Then, we go down to Florida and leave for our cruise!!! :D :D :D It's going to be amazing!!! Now y'all can see why I was so excited for finals to be done right?! SUNSHINE HERE I COME! :D

Talk to y'all later! Love ya!!!

Partying It Up!!!

Dang! I think that the past two weekends have just solidified how fast May is coming! I've just been partying it up! hahahahha

Last weekend my daddy was so generous to bring me home for a bridal shower and to take care of some wedding stuff. It was SO fun! First of all I would like to particularly thank my Aunt Susan, Faith, and my cousin Amber for throwing me a wonderful bridal shower!!! And thank you to all who came and helped out! It was AMAZING! I can't even tell you! It was so fun to see everyone and I just loved celebrating with everyone! We played this game where I had to open these gifts and then tell the story that had to do with that object, it was so fun! One was a ring and I got to tell our engagement story, a play cell phone with a facebook symbol on it and I got to tell about how Ryan and I's long distance relationship, there was a toy car that kind of looked like Ryan's Del sol and that story was how he drove across the country, and a picture of Brit and I cuz that's how Ryan and I met was through Brit (Brit jokes that she gets to take credit for our relationship lol) Everyone was so generous and we got some great things for our apartment, dishes, cleaning supplies, a bunch of stuff for our cruise (everything travel size and towels), bread pans and recipes, canisters, toaster, crockpot, shower catty thing that hangs on the shower head, shower gel and lotion, silverware, picture frames, a wok, pans, and more. Oh and my bff Rachel got me some lingerie. hahaha. It was funny because everyone was kinda chatting while I was opening gifts and then when I opened Rachel's gift everyone stopped and was like "OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!! hahahahahha" ;) hahahahahahhaa So fun! The cake was so cute too (thanks Kristina) it was the game of Life design and the squares were personalized to Ryan and I. I'll try

I also have to thank my mommy and daddy!! The rest of the weekend I was home we were shopping and having fun! I miss them like crazy! We always have a good time being together. I'm so blessed to have wonderful parents that are my friends! It was so great to be with the family! Oh Faith not only helped pull together an amazing bridal shower for me as my maid of honor but she also was sick while doing it all! Dang she's amazing! I love her with all my heart! I'm so glad Heavenly Father answered all those prayers as a little girl when I pleaded for a little sister :) And dang he sent me the best: kind, smart, gorgeous, fun, and just over all amazing! AND on top of that he blessed me with two brothers and another sister!!! I think I take advantage of what I have and I need to stop that. Josh is growing up so much! He is the sweetest kid ever! I always miss his play by play stories and genuine laugh! Hannah, oh my goodness I miss that girls energy and her smile! I miss all of Nathan's hugs and overall cuteness!

Then this weekend my friend Makena and Chelsey threw me a bridal shower/bachlorette party. We had mocktails, played games, and went to go see When In Rome at the dollar theater. It was so great to be with all my girls. They had a fun time making me blush with all the lingerie I think. lol. I also got a book I'm excited to read, an apron, towels for our kitchen, and a beautiful picture frame. It was great!

Ryan also got together with Kevin, Rob, and Tyler. They went to Iggy's and did boy stuff. hahahahahahaha.

I'll write more soon. Gotta run to class!
